Apple TV+ has released a new trailer for its upcoming second season of The Morning Show, and as you’ll see things get pretty intense. In fact, Billy Crudup exclaims in the trailer, “This is a battle for the soul of the universe!”

The series is set in the world of media at a morning news show amid a sexual misconduct scandal. In the first season, Alex Levy’s (Jennifer Aniston) on-air partner of 15 years, Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell), is fired amidst a sexual misconduct scandal, Alex fights to retain her job as top news anchor while sparking a rivalry with Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon), a haphazard field reporter whose series of impulsive decisions brings her into a new world of television journalism.

As the second season begins everyone is still reeling from the decisions to share that all on air. While the network cut the news feed as an immediate response, there is some big fallout as Alex leaves the show that made her a star. Bradley is angry with her because of this, and Mitch keeps himself in headlines by sharing his side of the story.

Season 2 also looks like it will deal with the COVID-19 pandemic along with racism in the media. In an effort to help enhance the rating of the show, Cory Ellison (Crudup) brings Alex back into the fold, and she once again is pitted against Bradley as they each push for power.

Some of the new characters coming to Season 2 include Greta Lee as Stella Bak, a tech world wunderkind who joins the UBA executive team; Hasan Minhaj as Eric Nomani, a new member of the titular morning news team; and Julianna Margulies as Laura Peterson, a UBA news anchor who finds herself interviewing Alex.

The Morning Show will consist of 10 episodes, and it will premiere on September 17th.
