New Trailer For BALLAD OF A SMALL PLAYER Sees Colin Farrell Facing Debts, Addiction, and Danger
Netflix has released a new trailer for Colin Farrell’s psychological thriller Ballad of a Small Player.
The film follows Farrell as Lord Doyle, who is laying low in Macau “spending his days and nights on the casino floors, drinking heavily and gambling what little money he has left.
“Struggling to keep up with his fast-rising debts, he is offered a lifeline by the mysterious Dao Ming (Fala Chen), a casino employee with secrets of her own.
“However, in hot pursuit is Cynthia Blithe (Tilda Swinton) – a private investigator ready to confront Doyle with what he is running from. As Doyle tries to climb to salvation, the confines of reality start to close in.”
The film is based on Lawrence Osborne’s novel, with a screenplay adapted by Rowan Joffe (28 Weeks Later), an it looks like it will make for a great and intense movie!
The film comes from director Edward Berger, fresh off his Oscar-winning All Quiet on the Western Front and his recent success with Conclave, reunites with several members of his crew to tell this story, which dives into addiction, deception, and the dangerous allure of survival at any cost.
Farrell continues his strong run after earning his first Emmy nomination for The Penguin. Ballad of a Small Player is set for a prime rollout, hitting U.S. theaters on October 15, opening in U.K. and Ireland cinemas on October 17, and arriving on Netflix worldwide October 29.
