New Trailer For Benedict Cumberbatch and Micheal Shannon's THE CURRENT WAR
101 Studios has shared a new trailer for The Current War, a film that tells the true story behind the electricity battle that took place between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse.
The movie was originally supposed to be released back in 2017, but after the The Weinstein Company went bankrupt, the film fell into limbo. Luckily 101 Studios was formed and picked it up, so now the film will actually see the light of day.
The Current War tells the story of Thomas Edison (Benedict Cumberbatch), George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) and Nikola Tesla (Nicholas Hoult), “three brilliant visionaries in a cutthroat competition to literally light up the world. The film follows Edison, whose plans of bringing electricity to Manhattan are upended when Westinghouse and Tesla announce they have a superior idea for how to rapidly electrify America, sparking one of the first and greatest corporate feuds in U.S. history.”
This is a story that has fascinated me for a long time and I’m looking forward to see how this film turns out. The movie was directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) with executive producer Martin Scorsese. It also stars Katherine Waterston, Tom Holland, Matthew Macfadyen and Tuppence Middleton.
The movie opens in select theaters on October 4, 2019, and everywhere on October 11, 2019.
