New Trailer for Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell's Dark Comedy THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN
Fox Searchlight has released a new trailer for The Banshees of Inisherin. The movie comes from director Martin McDonagh, the filmmaker behind In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths, and Three Billboards Outside Edding Missouri, and it reunites Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell.
I’ve actually already had the opportunity to watch this movie, and I loved it! If you’re a fan of McDonagh’s previous film, you’re definitely going to enjoy this latest film of his. It’s wildly entertaining.
In the film, Gleeson and Farrell play two lifelong friends who find themselves in a confusing situation when Gleeson’s character abruptly ends their friendship with no explanation, other than he’s boring, and things start to escalate into complete madness.
The story is set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, and it follows “lifelong friends Pádraic (Farrell) and Colm (Gleeson), who find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly puts an end to their friendship. A stunned Pádraic, aided by his sister Siobhán (Kerry Condon) and troubled young islander Dominic (Barry Keoghan), endeavours to repair the relationship, refusing to take no for an answer. But Pádraic's repeated efforts only strengthen his former friend’s resolve and when Colm delivers a desperate ultimatum, events swiftly escalate, with shocking consequences.”
McDonagh previously talked about the film, saying, “I wanted it to be as beautiful as possible. To aim for beauty and for cinema. Because if you heard of a story of two guys grumbling at each other, and you didn’t have the epic kind of beauty, it might get a little tiresome. I’ve seen a lot of U.K. and Irish films that don’t seem to aim for the cinema as their number one choice.”
The Banshees of Inisherin opens on October 21, 2022.
