New Trailer for David Fincher's Crime Thriller Series MINDHUNTER Focuses on the Atlanta Child Murders

Netflix has released another intense trailer for the second season of David Fincher’s serial killer series Mindhunter, and it focuses on the case that FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff), Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), and Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) will be investigating, which is the disturbing Atlanta Child murders.

Mindhunter is based on the true crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker, and it chronicles the beginning of serial killer profiling in the FBI.

The series is set in the year 1977, “in the early days of criminal psychology and criminal profiling at the Federal Bureau of Investigation – Mindhunter revolves around FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench, along with psychologist Wendy Carr, who originate the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit within the Training Division at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. They interview imprisoned serial killers in order to understand how they think, with the hope of applying this knowledge to solving ongoing cases.”

The first season put a lot of focus on the FBI agents interviewing Ed Kemper, who was played by Cameron Britton. Ed Kemper is back in Season 2 to help Ford and Tench in their efforts to catch a new “fantasy” killer that will be impossible to catch if he’s good at what he does.

The Atlanta child murders involved 28 people being murdered between 1979 and 1981. We also know that infamous killer and cult leader Charles Manson will fit into the story this next season and he is being played by Damon Herriman.

Mindhunter is set to premiere on August 16th. Check out the new trailer.
