New Trailer For Disney Animated Film WISH - "Be CareFul What You Wish For"
Disney released a new trailer for its upcoming animated fantasy film Wish, the story of which leans into the whole “When you wish upon a star” aspect of Disney lore. The trailer offers a lot more insight into the story that the movie will tell, as well as the villain of the story, Magnifico, who is voiced by Chris Pine. It looks like a Disney film that the fans will enjoy.
This looks like a beautifully animated film, the style of which is different from anything Disney has done before. The story takes place in a world called Rosas, a fairytale kingdom of wishes. It’s a “fantastical land located off the Iberian Peninsula. People come from everywhere to give their wishes to a magical king who promises to grant their deepest desires—someday. Only he can decide which wishes will come true and when.”
The main character of the story is Asha (Ariana DeBose), “a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star.” It’s explained that, “Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.”
The movie was directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, who said: “We have been inspired by so many iconic films over Disney Animation’s 100 years, especially stories where we explore the power of someone with a wish, combined with the conviction to make that wish come true. Being able to honor that legacy with this incredible story and these amazing characters has been a joy for our entire team.”
The voice cast for the film also includes Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino, Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya, Victor Garber as Asha’s grandfather, and Natasha Rothwell as Asha’s mother. Jennifer Kumiyama, Evan Peters, Harvey Guillén, Ramy Youssef, Niko Vargas, Della Saba, and Jon Rudnitsky also star as Asha’s friends.
Wish opens only in theaters on November 22, 2023.
