New Trailer for Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson’s Satanist Thriller REGRESSION

Regression looks like it could actually be a promising film. There’s some good talent involved with it that includes actors Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson. The film was also directed by Alejandro Amenábar, who is the director of the fantastic ghost story The Others. I’m looking forward to seeing Regression regardless of the negative reviews that I’ve seen. There are just a lot of elements in this film that are too interesting for me not to miss it.

The story is based on actual sinister events and set in the 1990s, which was a time when kids were accusing their parents of Satanic ritual abuse. The film centers on a father who is accused by his daughter (Watson) of a crime that he has no memory of committing. Hawke plays the detective investigating it, and David Thewlis plays a psychologist who helps with the case. The story will explore whether or not Watson’s claims are true, or if there’s something more sinister to her story that she’s not revealing.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Minnesota, 1990. Detective Bruce Kenner (Ethan Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Emma Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.

Regression opens this week on February 5th.
