New Trailer for Hulu's 18th Century-Set Satire THE GREAT with Elle Fanning and Nicolas Hoult

We’ve got a new trailer to share with you for Hulu’s upcoming series The Great. The show is a satirical, comedic drama that’s set in 18th century Russia. It looks like it’ll be a quirky and entertaining series worth checking out.

The Great is about the rise of Catherine the Great “from outsider to the longest-reigning female ruler in Russia’s history. Season One is a fictionalized, fun and anachronistic story of an idealistic, romantic young girl, who arrives in Russia for an arranged marriage to the mercurial Emperor Peter. Hoping for love and sunshine, she finds instead a dangerous, depraved, backward world that she resolves to change. All she has to do is kill her husband, beat the church, baffle the military and get the court onside. A very modern story about the past which encompasses the many roles she played over her lifetime as lover, teacher, ruler, friend, and fighter.”

The series comes from writer and producer Tony McNamara (The Favourite), and it has a great cast that includes Elle Fanning (Super 8, Maleficient) as Catherine the Great, Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Russian emperor Peter, Phoebe Fox (Eye in the Sky, One Day) as Marial, Adam Godley (Breaking Bad), Gwilym Lee (Bohemian Rhapsody) as Grigor, Charity Wakefield (Bounty Hunters, Sense & Sensibility), Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful), and Sacha Dhawan (After Earth, Iron Fist).

The series will be available for streaming on May 15th.

All is bliss in the court of Catherine the Great. #TheGreat premieres May 15, only on Hulu. ABOUT THE GREAT: The Great is a satirical, comedic drama about th...
