New Trailer for Michelle Yeoh's STAR TREK: SECTION 31 Leans into the Action

Paramount+ has released a new trailer for Michelle Yeoh's Star Trek: Section 31 and this one puts an emphasis on the action and the ragtag crew that will be aiding Phillippa Georgiou on her journey.

This Star Trek project feels very different from another we’ve seen in the franchise before. The energy is different, and it feels like the creative team was inspired by The Guardians of the Galaxy films. In fact, one of the actors in the series described it was being like Guardians of the Galaxy on steroids.

The movie centers around the Mirror Universe’s version of Michelle Yeoh’s character Emperor Philippa Georgiou who joins a secret division of Starfleet. Tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she also must face the sins of her past.

In the movie, "Emperor Philippa Georgiou, joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets and faces the sins of her past." Yeoh will reprise her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery, and filming will take place from January 29th through the end of March.

The Star Trek movie also stars Omari Hardwick (Power), Kacey Rahl (Hannibal), Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia) and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry).

Yeoh previously said of the film: "I'm beyond thrilled to return to my Star Trek family and to the role I've loved for so long. Section 31 has been near and dear to my heart since I began the journey of playing Philippa all the way back when this new golden age of Star Trek launched.

“To see her finally get her moment is a dream come true in a year that's shown me the incredible power of never giving up on your dreams. We can't wait to share what's in store for you, and until then: live long and prosper (unless Emperor Georgiou decrees otherwise)!"

Craig Sweeny wrote the screenplay for Star Trek: Section 31 and Olatunde Osunsanmi is directing the movie.
