New Trailer For Park Chan-wook's Spy Thriller Series THE LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL
AMC and BBC has released a new trailer for the fantastic looking spy thriller series called The Little Drummer Girl. The show comes from the twisted mind of Park Chan-wook (Stoker, Oldboy) and I can’t wait to see it!
The series also has a great cast that includes Florence Pugh, Alexander Skarsgård and Michael Shannon. I’m really curious to see how this story plays out, but its definitely a dark tale that sends a young woman into deep into the criminal underworld.
The spy thriller is set in the 1970s and the story follows Charlie (Pugh), “a fiery actress and idealist whose resolve is tested after she meets the mysterious Becker (Skarsgård) while on holiday in Greece. It quickly becomes apparent that his intentions are not what they seem, and her encounter with him entangles her in a complex plot devised by the spy mastermind Kurtz (Shannon). Charlie takes on the role of a lifetime as a double agent while remaining uncertain of her own loyalties.”
Co-showunner Stephen Cornwell had this to say in a previous statement:
“When you actually look at Director Park’s work. There’s a lot in it that speaks to the same themes as Little Drummer Girl in terms of conflicted loyalty, conflicted love, the kind of fusion of a love story in a thriller context and sort of divided identity and divided loyalty all seem to run deep through. And also female empowerment… He’s really built fascinating female characters in his narratives.”
The Little Drummer Girl is a six part series and the AMC will air all episodes in two-hour blocks over the course of three nights, starting on November 19, 2018. The spy drama will premiere on The BBC on October 28th.
