New Trailer For Peter Jackson's MORTAL ENGINES Offers Lots of New Footage and Story Details

We’ve got a new trailer for the Peter Jackson-produced epic Mortal Engines for you to enjoy today! It offers us more exciting and adventurous new footage and also offers some new story details that explains the history of the world that the film is set in and the threat that the heroes of the story are up against.

I haven’t seen much excitement for this movie, but I think it looks like it could be a pretty incredible and unique adventure film. It certainly looks visually stunning. It will be interesting to see if audiences turn out for it.

The film comes from director Christian Rivers from a script co-written by Jackson himself and Philippa Boyens. The movie is based on the British series of novels by Philip Reeve and this is the synopsis:

Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.

The cast for the film also includes Hugo Weaving, Hera Hilmar, Robbie Sheehan (Geostorm), South Korean singer and actress Jihae (Mars), Ronan Raftery (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Leila George (Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?), Patrick Malahide (Game of Thrones) and Stephen Lang (Avatar).

Mortal Engines will hit theaters on December 14th.
