New Trailer For TERMINATOR 2: 3D Features James Cameron Explaining Why It's So Awesome
Next month Terminator 2: Judgement Day returns to theaters in 3D and as a fan, I couldn't be more excited! I'm considering taking my kids to it because I don't know when they'll be able to see this classic movie on the big screen again!?
I haven't seen this movie on the big screen since it was first released on the big screen, so this is going to be awesome! The 3D post-conversion of the film was supervised by James Cameron himself, and in the latest trailer for the film, the filmmaker talks about the 3D conversion release of the film and what makes it so great!
Produced by Carolco Pictures and originally released by Tri-Star Pictures, the film picks up in 1995 — 11 years after the original Terminator — with Schwarzenegger’s T-800 reprogrammed to go back in time and protect a young John Connor (Edward Furlong) and his mom Sarah (Linda Hamilton) from an advanced prototype Terminator known as the T-1000 (Robert Patrick).
Upon its release, T2 was the most expensive movie ever made at $102 million ($180 million adjusted for inflation), and paved the way for computer-generated imagery with the CG-enhanced liquid metal T-1000. The film grossed nearly $520 million dollars at the worldwide box office (the highest of any Terminator film), won four technical Oscars.
Cameron is looking to jump back into the franchise with a new film with Deadpool director Tim Miller. That should happen sometime in 2019. In the meantime, we'll get to watch T2 on the big screen again! It comes out on August 25th.
