New Trailer For THE BIG SHORT: Carell, Gosling, Pitt, and Bale Battle The Banks
While there are moments of comedy in The Big Short, it's definitely the most dramatic, adult film writer/director Adam McKay has made so far. Known for movies like Anchorman, Step Brothers, and The Other Guys, this new film doesn't feature Will Ferrell running around making a fool of himself — in fact, Ferrell's not in it at all. Instead, McKay has recruited an A-list cast to tell the true story about how the country's banks completely screwed all of us over during the nation's 2008 economic collapse, resulting in something that could be considered a companion piece to Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street. (Read my review of the movie from this month's AFI FEST.)
Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for the film, which gives many of its cast members his or her moment to shine. The Big Short arrives in limited theaters on December 11th and will be available in wide release on December 23rd.
When four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to, the global collapse of the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short. Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where they must question everyone and everything. Based on the true story and best-selling book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side, Moneyball), and directed by Adam Mckay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) The Big Short stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.
