New Trailer for THE CROWN Season 4 Offers Our Best Look Yet at What's to Come

Netflix has released a new full trailer for The Crown Season 4, and this next season certainly looks like it’s going to be a good one. Tensions are running high as there are two women who are running Britain at odds, Queen Elizabeth II (Olivia Colman) and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson).

When talking about these characters and their relationship, executive producer Peter Morgan said in a statement:

“It could be said that they are two very similar women, born only months apart. They are very much defined by the Second World War, by a sense of a sense of frugality, hard work, commitment, Christianity and so much more. It was a commonly held piece of wisdom that the Queen and Thatcher didn’t get on. I think there was probably a lot of respect. But they also had many differences, it was really fun exploring their differences and their similarities. I also get a chance to explore them both as mothers. Writing Thatcher and the Queen as mothers was probably an angle that no one has explored before. It yielded one of my favorite episodes in the season.”

Meanwhile, Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor) and Princess Diana (Emma Corrin) will be getting married, and this season will explore the ups and downs of that relationship, “including Diana’s propulsion from teenager to public figure, their global news wedding and equally international travels, and Diana’s desperation to feel a true part of the family.”

The upcoming season also stars Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Marion Bailey as the Queen Mother, Georgie Glen as Lady Fermoy, Tom Byrne as Prince Andrew, Angue Imrie as Prince Edward, and Charles Dance as Lord Mountbatten. Claire Foy will also return to the role of Queen Elizabeth in a flashback scene.

The series has been renewed for a fifth and sixth season, with Elizabeth Debicki set to take over the role of Princess Diana, while Imelda Staunton will take on the role of the queen. The storyline through Season 6 will bring the characters into the 2000s.

The Crown Season 4 will be available on Netflix on November 15th. I’ve enjoyed watching this series as it’s a well-made and fantastically written series.
