New Trailer for THE END OF OAK STREET Unleashes Dinosaur Chaos as Tickets Officially Go on Sale
If you've ever wondered what would happen if dinosaurs suddenly invaded a quiet suburban neighborhood, The End of Oak Street looks ready to answer that question in spectacular fashion.
Warner Bros. has released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi adventure, and it's packed with thrilling dinosaur attacks, intense action, and plenty of family survival drama. Along with the new footage, tickets are now officially on sale ahead of the film's theatrical release on August 14.
The latest trailer gives us an even better look at the nightmare facing one ordinary family after their peaceful neighborhood is ripped away from reality. One moment they're living a normal suburban life, and the next they're surrounded by towering prehistoric predators that have no problem turning their streets into a hunting ground.
The film stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as a husband and wife who find themselves fighting to protect their children after Oak Street is mysteriously transported to an unknown location following a strange cosmic event.
Whether they've been thrown into Earth's distant past or some bizarre multiversal realm remains a mystery, but one thing is crystal clear. There are dinosaurs everywhere, and surviving long enough to figure out what's happening won't be easy.
Producer J.J. Abrams recently spoke with Empire about why The End of Oak Street stands apart from the inevitable comparisons to Jurassic Park.
"I think people are hungry for new stories, original stories, and to me, the undeniable appeal of this is the fact that it takes place in suburbia. I love the Jurassic movies as much as anyone, but those films, for the most part, take place in these beautiful jungles, these distant islands."
"David's whole approach here was the juxtaposition of the absolute mundane suburban family life—swing sets and ice cream trucks and above-ground pools and school buses—and dinosaurs. If there's any part of you that is excited by what you saw in the trailers, I can promise that the movie will deliver on everything."
That suburban setting really does make the movie feel different. Watching massive dinosaurs tear through cul-de-sacs, leap over fences, and stalk families between familiar neighborhood homes creates a completely different kind of tension than seeing them roaming isolated islands.
It's a fun concept that was played with in Jurassic Park franchise, and judging from everything we've seen so far, director David Robert Mitchell looks like he's leaning all the way into it.
The official synopsis reads: "After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings."
Alongside Hathaway and McGregor, the cast also includes Maisy Stella and Christian Convery.
Personally, I think this movie looks incredibly cool, and I can’t wait to watch it when it stomps into theaters this August.
