Sinister New Trailer for the Horror Film MIDSOMMAR From the Director of HEREDITARY
We’ve got a great new trailer for you to watch today for the upcoming new horror thriller Midsommar. This trailer offers us a much better idea of what the story entails and also features some creepy and unsettling new footage. This movie looks like it going to be seriously jacked up.
I guess it’s not surprising, after all the movie does come from Ari Aster, who previously brought us the the nightmarish horror movie Hereditary. I love that this horror movie has a very colorful, bright, and vibrant look, especially since it tells a very dark and sinister story.
The story follows a couple, played by Jack Reynor and Florence Pugh, who are having relationship issues. Pugh’s character seems to be having an emotional breakdown. They end up being invited to Sweden by a friend to attend some traditional midsummer festivities. The trip starts out pleasantly, but then, as you’ll see, things quickly turn into a terrifying, violent, and bizarre ordeal. That’s what you get when you visit a pagan cult!
The director explained that the horror movie is a “Scandinavian folk horror” story and also said that the film is “an apocalyptic breakup movie,” and explained that the “recent death of the main character’s parents casts a sense of dread over the proceedings.”
I think this movie looks like it’s going to be a fantastic horror movie. I love watching films like this, and like Hereditary, this one seems like it’s really going to mess with the audiences heads.
Midsommar also has a great cast that includes Will Poulter, Vilhem Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia, and Archie Madekwe.
The movie opens in theaters on August 9th, 2019.
