New Trailer Released For Joaquin Phoenix's Wonderful Film DON'T WORRY, HE WON'T GET FAR ON FOOT
If you're a fan of Joaquin Phoenix, his latest film project Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot is a must watch because he gives one of his best performances in it. I had a chance to see the film at Sundance and I thought it was a wonderful film and one of director Gus Van Sant's (Good Will Hunting, Finding Forrester, Milk) best movies to date.
The movie is based on a true story and it stars Joaquin Phoenix as John Callahan, a slacker alcoholic from Portland whose life is turned upside down when he is paralyzed in a car accident. This difficult journey leads him on a path to becoming a cartoonist.
The movie has a great supporting cast that also includes Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara, and Jack Black. Here's the synopsis:
The last day Portland slacker John Callahan is able to walk, he wakes up without a hangover — because he’s still drunk from the night before. That night at a wild party he meets a wisecracking drinking buddy (Jack Black), who insists they leave for an even better party he knows about. But when his new friend dozes off at the wheel, John wakes up confined to a wheelchair with only partial use of his arms. Though he initially has no intention of getting sober, he reluctantly attends a 12-step meeting run by a charismatic and dedicated sponsor named Donnie (Jonah Hill) and reconnects with Annu (Rooney Mara), a therapist he met at the hospital. With their encouragement, John finds that love is not beyond his reach and discovers a hidden talent for drawing, channeling his playful personality into crude, politically incorrect — and often hilarious — cartoons, which develop a national following. Based on a true story, this poignant, insightful, funny drama about redemption, forgiveness and the healing power of art is adapted from Callahan’s autobiography.
This is what I had to say about the film in my review:
This story was a rollercoaster of emotions and it was incredibly inspirational. Just seeing this man's journey unfold on the big screen was a great experience filled with drama and humor. The guy went through some crazy trials and tribulations in his life and he could have easily been in despair the rest of his life. But he wouldn’t let that happen and he took the necessary steps to bring him to a point of living a happy and successful life. It just goes to show that you have the power to lead a wonderful life if you truly want it.
The cast for the film also includes Beth Ditto, Olivia Hamilton, Udo Kier, Kim Gordon, and Carrie Brownstein. Amazon Studios will release Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot in select theaters on May 11th.
