New Trailer Released For Opioid Crisis HBO Documentary, THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY

Director Alex Gibney is hitting HBO viewers with a new documentary about the Opioid Crisis in America titled The Crime of the Century. Gibney has a massively large list of documentaries under his belt dating back to the early 90’s. He’s done Freakonomics, Taxi to the Dark Side, The Clinton Affair and much more. With a wide variety of intense documentaries over the years, it isn’t much of a surprise that he is hitting this topic. He’s won an Oscar and been nominated or won eight Primetime Emmys.

In the trailer, we see how much the world of drugs has gone from the streets to the doctor’s office. People trust their doctors when they are in physical need, often more than they do WebMD! So to see the abuse of drugs given out by doctors and the teases of doctors treating their prescriptions like candy and normal business transactions is a bit unsettling.

This will be a two part series covering a lot of parts of the pharmaceutical world, including governmental regulations, salesmen and people who have had those strong pulls to easy to access prescriptions.

The Crime of the Century will be coming out on May 10, 2021 on HBO and HBO MAX.
