New Trailer, Sneak Peek, and Villain Info For The RISE OF THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Animated Series

Nickelodeon has released a new trailer and sneak peek at Comic-Con for their upcoming animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I'm sure there will be some fans that enjoy what they see, and others that will be frustrated with it. I'm personally not a big fan of what they are doing with the show and the style that they've come up with. But, I'm sure that it's something that the kids will enjoy.

I also included a clip that focuses on John Cena's character and a rundown of the villains who will appear in the film.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reimagines the iconic series and breathes new life into the classic characters, with jagged-shelled Raphael as a snapping turtle, wielding twin tonfas as his weapons; Leonardo as a red-eared slider, using an ōdachi sword; Donatello as a soft-shell turtle, sporting a tech-bo staff; and Michelangelo as a box turtle, arming himself with a kusari-fundo. Along for the adventure is the Turtles’ most trusted ally, April O’Neil, a street savvy native New Yorker, and Splinter, father figure and sensei to the Turtles.
The Turtles also hold distinct personality traits and skills: Raphael, as the oldest and biggest brother, is the leader full of enthusiasm and bravado; Leonardo, the self-professed coolest brother possesses irreverent charm and a rebel heart; Donatello is a mechanical genius and tech wizard whose ninja skills are second only to his coding; and Michelangelo, the youngest brother, is a skateboarder and artist who is wild and imaginative.

The series stars the voice talent of Omar Miller (Ballers) as Raphael, Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as Leonardo, Josh Brener (Silicon Valley) as Donatello, Brandon Mychal Smith (You’re The Worst) as Michelangelo, Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as April O’Neil and Eric Bauza (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as Splinter. John Cena lends his voice as villain, Baron Draxum, an alchemist warrior mutant who seeks to turn all of humanity into mutants.

The first season consists of 26-episodes, and it will debut on Monday, September 17th on Nickelodeon.

Albearto

This (overly) friendly-looking fellow is named Albearto, and he's described as a "birthday loving robot." The character will be voiced by Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants).

Big Mama

Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, Dredd) will provide the voice for this giant spider mutant named Big Mama.

Ghostbear

Jorge Gutierrez (El Tigre) will bring Ghostbear to life. This bruiser is described as "a human pro-wrestler champion who likes to cheat."

Huginn

This little fella is Huginn, one of Draxum's gargoyles. He'll be voiced by Veepstar Sam Richardson.

Muninn

Draxum's other gargoyle Muninn will also be viced by a Veep actor, Tim Simons. We think this is the guy from the clip above.

Hypno-Potamus

Rhys Darby (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) is Hypno-Potamus, who, as the name suggests, is a mutant magician/hippo.

Meat Sweats

This is Meat Swats, the "power-seeking mutant pig." He'll be voiced by none other that former Sex Pistols frontman John "Johnny Rotten" Lydon.

Warren Stone

No pun-tastic mutant nickname for this one! Warren Stone is a former news anchor turned mutant earthworm, and will be voiced by John Michael Higgins (Pitch Perfect).
