New TRON: ARES Character Posters Spotlight Jared Leto, Jeff Bridges, and the Return to the Grid
Disney has dropped six slick new character posters for the upcoming sci-fi flick Tron: Ares, and they're giving fans a closer look at the digital warriors heading back into action. The posters highlight characters played by Jared Leto, Jeff Bridges, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Evan Peters, and Gillian Anderson, teasing the next chapter in the Tron saga.
It’s cool to see Jeff Bridges' back in the role of the iconic character Kevin Flynn. After being digitally de-aged in Tron: Legacy, it looks like we’ll finally see Flynn return as his older self, and fans are here for it. How big a role he’ll play this time is still a mystery, especially with Leto’s Ares possibly positioned as the franchise’s new frontman.
Tron: Ares introduces a cutting-edge Program named Ares who is sent from the digital Grid into the real world. This marks humanity’s first direct interaction with an artificial intelligence being in the Tron universe.
Director Joachim Rønning gave some interesting insight into Leto’s character, saying: "Not to be too clichéd, but I always thought about him a bit like Pinocchio. Ares wants to be a real boy. We talked a lot about him almost being an infant, discovering the world for the first time, and how we wanted the audience to see the world through his eyes."
He added: "The little things that we take for granted, or don’t see anymore. That was important. And then a bigger theme for the film is what it takes — what it means — to be human. Especially in this case, because he’s a computer program."
There's cautious excitement surrounding Tron: Ares, although Leto’s involvement has drawn some skepticism given his rocky history in blockbusters like Suicide Squad and Morbius. Still, Disney is banking on the franchise’s loyal fanbase.
Tron: Ares is set to hit theaters on October 10, 2025.
