New TV Spot for VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE and an R-Rating Was Considered for the Film
A new TV spot has been released for Venom: Let There Be Carnage to help keep the hype for the film up as it’s going to be hitting theaters soon.
The film was directed by Andy Serkis, and it stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a.k.a. Venom, Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady as Carnage, stars Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, and Naomie Harris (Moonlight), who is playing the villain Shriek.
As you know, the movie landed a PG-13 rating, but fans were really hoping for that R. Well, it turns out that an R-rating was actually considered at one point. During an interview with ComicBook, Hardy said:
"100% we considered it. With all of these symbiotes, you know, you consider it. You read the comic books and it is extreme, but that's not what we're here to do."
Serkis went on to explain that the creative team feels that some things are better left to the imagination:
"Sometimes leaving things to the imagination is as powerful too. We pushed it as far as we could possibly go, but with some room to go in people's heads. That character is pretty scary and the kind of the truth of where that character emanates from and Cletus Kasady is a character that is amplified through Carnage, does a lot of the work. So I think we certainly fulfill a lot of the essence of Carnage."
I just continue to hope that the movie tells a good story. Venom: Let There Be Carnage will hit theaters on October 1st!
