New TV Spot for WICKED Tells of Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba and Who She Was Before She Was the Wicked Witch
A new TV spot has been released from the upcoming musical feature Wicked, which focuses on the journey of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) before she became the Wicked Witch of the West.
The film is directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights), from a screenplay written by Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz.
It's adapted from Holzman and Schwartz's stage musical Wicked, which is based on the 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Wicked is the first chapter of a two-part immersive, cultural celebration. Acclaimed actress Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba Thropp, a young woman with green skin who eventually becomes the iconic Wizard of Oz villain that everyone knows (and fears). Ariana Grande co-stars as Glinda, with Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz.
Check out the new TV spot below, and watch Wicked when it hits theaters on November 22nd for Thanksgiving weekend.
