New WEDNESDAY Intro Sequence Proves This Will Not Be Your Typical ADDAMS FAMILY Show
Netflix has released the introduction sequence for their upcoming Wednesday series. Wednesday follows the supernatural adventures of Wednesday Addams, the eldest of the Addams’ children as she investigates the mysteries of Nevermore Academy.
With Tim Burton at the head of the project we’ve gotten many glimpses at how much the supernatural will be embraced in this new show. This show has looked quite different from past Addams Family movies and shows that tend to show the complete family and often focusing on Gomez and Morticia. Now that we have an older Wednesday at a boarding school, it seems the rest of the family will be taking a step back to let her have the spotlight.
If you were still hoping for the kooky and altogether ooky family, then this new introduction may disappoint you. While the introduction music still features the classic harpsichord, it is pretty far from the original upbeat Addams Family tune.
The visuals themselves are great with the knife playing the cello and Thing walking up a spiral staircase. They are obviously leaning far into the spooky side of things, it definitely reminds me of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Hopefully we won’t altogether lose the kooky aspects of the family that have made them so endearing, but I get the feeling that it won’t be very prominent.
Overall I’m interested in the show, but I don’t have terribly high hopes for it. Check out the video below and let me know what you think, are you excited for this show?
