New WOLF MAN Clip Reveals The Werewolf Transformation and Full Creature Design

Universal Pictures has released a new clip for director Leigh Whannell’s upcoming horror film Wolf Man, which reimagines the classic story in a very different and unique way.

The clip shows the whole werewolf transformation as we see Christopher Abbott turning into a full-on werewolf and it’s our first proper look at the full creature design.

I’m surprised that the studio didn’t hold off on this and save it for the movie since it is one of the more pivotal scenes in the film. You don’t have to watch it if you want to save that experience for the big screen.

It’s a pretty gnarly and haunting scene and maybe this is an edited down version of it, but you get a clear idea of the transformation experience.

Whannell previously talked about the creature design, which is very different from the original Wolfman design, saying: “With the look of Wolf Man, I knew I wanted to do something very different. I was really inspired by movies like John Carpenter’s The Thing and David Cronenberg’s The Fly.”

Abbott stars as Blake in the movie, a San Francisco husband and father, “who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead.

“With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte (Julia Garner; Ozark, Inventing Anna), fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth; Hullraisers, Coma).

“But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter.

“As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger without.”

The movie will be released on January 17, 2025. Check out the clip and let us know what you think!
