New X-23 Footage Revealed in DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE as Dafne Keen Talks Potential MCU Return
A new interview with Deadpool & Wolverine actress Dafne Keen has surfaced thanks to Moviefone, and in it, they share some new footage of her as Laura, aka X-23.
Keen has already expressed interest in reprising her role for more adventures in the MCU, but she continued to share her excitement about the possibility of returning saying she "really hopes to get the call... even for just a tiny, silly cameo."
She went on to add: "I've said this a trillion times, I would play Laura for the rest of my life, and I would be content. She's the most incredible character to play.”
The video includes some behind-the-scenes footage that I haven’t seen before and it seems like Laura's fireside scene with Logan was originally supposed to be longer.
In the scene, we see both characters unleash their claws in reaction to someone approaching, and there's also some new dialogue from Laura, who tells the Wolverine variant that it's good to see him again.
Keen previously said: "I would love to come back. I would pay them to come back. Playing Laura has been the biggest honor of my life.
“To me we've only scratched the surface with her since she's such a complex character. She's so cool, just from a fan's standpoint."
I would love for Marvel Studios to tell a standalone X-23 story because she’s an interesting character that deserves to be explored more.
There was an X-23 movie planned at one point when Fox still owned the rights and Logan director James Mangold was working on a story, but nothing ever happened with it. The film was scrapped after Disney took over.
X-23 creator Craig Kyle previously shared his thoughts on where the story should go, saying: "We know the kids were created and tested. I'd love to see some of the stories that we told [in the comics], see as much as we can of how she came to be, but then really get into the stories of what she was forced to do and commit.
“She said she killed people. She said bad people. The bulk of who X-23 and Laura killed in the comic books were bad people, but she did kill some children. She did kill a whole press corps.
“I think there's something powerful about watching her go through those horrors without any say and without any ability to not take those actions.
"A story I always wanted to tell was, once she's free and once she's gone through what she's gone through, the only way she can have a hope for a future is for her to go back and trace the lives that remained and were harmed by the actions she was forced to commit.
“You put her on this journey of redemption. She faces the families that lost fathers. The orphans, everyone that was touched by her horrific acts. And she can go through them one by one and face everyone affected by the murders she was forced to commit, if she can get to the end of that road without being killed by those that remain, there's something on the other side of that. I think it would truly be transformative for the character."
Do you think Marvel will bring X-23 back for any future projects? You can watch the interview and clip in the video below.
