New X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Clip Features Quicksilver Saving a Team of Astronauts in Space
We’ve got a new clip from X-Men: Dark Phoenix to share with you today, and it puts the focus on Quicksilver (Evan Peters). The clip show the X-Men team racketing into space to save a group of astronauts from being killed by what they think is a solar flare.
Once in space, Quicksilver makes his way into the space shuttle thanks to Night Crawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and uses his mutant power of speed to save the astronauts and get them back onto the X-Men’s ship, which now has the ability to travel into space.
It’s a pretty fun scene. I saw a longer clip of this sequence earlier this year at CinemaCon, and I liked it. My expectations for this move are pretty low, but I hope that it ends up exceeding them.
In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite -- not only to save Jean's soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
The Simon Kinberg-directed film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Jessica Chastain.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be released on June 7th, 2019.
