Nicholas Cage Now Wants to Play the Wolf Man! He Should Just Play All the Universal Monsters!

Nicolas Cage plays Dracula in the upcoming Universal Pictures film Renfeld, and it looks like he gives a wildly enjoyable performance. I love what I’ve seen of his spin on the legendary vampire in the trailers, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of him in bloody action in the movie.

Well, we’re now learning that there’s another Universal Monster that Cage wants to play! During an interview with ScreenRant, the actor said that he’d also want to play The Wolf Man!

"I kind of did it with Ghost Rider, but I think the Wolf Man. The Wolf Man is the scariest and I think just powerfully tragic. But I think it's been done many times, I don't think we're making Wolf Man movies anymore. But for what I would like to explore, that works for me."

The Wolf Man is such a great creature and the most recent version of the creature was played with in Marvel’s Werewolf By Night, which was amazing! The style of that project was very much inspired by the original 1941 film The Wolf Man, which starred Lon Chaney Jr. as a man cursed with transforming into a werewolf. There have been a lot of werewolf movies made in between those films, including the 2010 Joe Johnston-directed movie with Benicio del Toro.

If Universal Pictures did make a new film version of The Wolf Man, sure, cast Cage in the role! Why not!? They might as well just cast Cage as every Universal Monster! It would be the Nic Cage Universal Monster Universe! Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Creature From The Black Lagoon, the fans would love it!

Renfield is set to hit theaters on April 14th.
