Nicholas Galitzine Teases a Fresh Take on MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE and a Very Human He-Man

Nicholas Galitzine is opening up about the upcoming Masters of the Universe live action movie, and it sounds like fans are in for something interesting.

In a new interview, the actor shed some light on how this version of He-Man is being shaped and why the story grabbed him right away. If you have been wondering what direction this long awaited adaptation is taking, Galitzine’s comments offer a solid preview of what is coming.

Galitzine revealed that director Travis Knight and the creative team are steering the film toward a more contemporary interpretation of the iconic hero. The actor explained that this take on He-Man goes beyond the straightforward portrayals fans have seen in the past.

As he put it, “I think there is a modernity to him that is really interesting. It feels like who he is as a person is a handshake between what traditional masculinity and femininity are.”

That approach will give Adam a fresh emotional angle and sets the stage for a different version of the character who reflects today’s ideas about identity and strength.

Galitzine shared that the script immediately stood out to him. He said it felt very different compared to other big genre movies he has come across.

“Movies that kind of sit in its genre or bracket” tend to follow familiar patterns, but this screenplay offered something else entirely. He explained, “There was something incredibly human about the story, and so humorous, which are two things that I really look for as an actor.”

That blend of heart and humor appears to be a major part of why he signed on and why he thinks this adaptation will resonate with audiences.

Even with its character driven approach, the movie is still delivering the large scale spectacle Masters of the Universe fans want. Galitzine said the film is packed with huge action moments and impressive set pieces that match the scope of Eternia.

He also emphasized that the emotional core remains just as important. “But I really am extremely excited for people to see this movie and to meet Adam.”

While talking about the movie’s massive scale, he added that the action sequences and set pieces are “incredible.” Still, the human element is essential. “There’s a really human story in there as well.” He continued, “I think if I’m going to do something with that level of spectacle, I have to have that as well.”

Knight’s new take on Masters of the Universe stars Jared Leto, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, Kristen Wiig, Alison Brie, and Camila Mendes, among others.

As a longtime fan of Masters of the Universe, I hope this movie is great, but I’m keeping my expectations in check. There are aspects about this movie that have me worried.
