Nick Jonas Joins Cast of the UGLYDOLLS Movie

UglyDolls is forming an interesting ensemble for the cast. The animated film has previously cast Kelly Clarkson and Pitbull who are both expected to create new songs for the film. Now, Nick Jonas is being thrown into the mix as well.

Unconventionality rules in UglyDolls, the new animated family adventure based on the beloved toy brand.  In the adorably different town of Uglyville, the free-spirited Moxy and her UglyDolls friends confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing because who you truly are is what matters most.

That is an interesting trio. Adam Fogelson, Chairman of STXfilms had this to say in a statement:

"Nick Jonas is not only a talented musician, he’s also an accomplished actor beloved by millions of passionate fans around the world. Over the last several years, Nick has proven there’s not much he can’t do, and we’re ecstatic to have him join Kelly and Pitbull in this charming and funny film.” 

The film for the plush toy line will be directed by Kelly Asbury and written by the creators of UglyDolls, David Horvath and Sun-mim Kim. There are also talks of a series being developed for Hulu.

UglyDolls is expected to release in 2019.
