Nick Offerman and Mary-Louise Parker to Play Colin Kaepernick's Parents in Netflix Limited Series
Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation, Fargo) and Mary Louise Parker (Fried Green Tomatoes, Weeds) have signed on to star in the Netflix limited series Colin in Black & White that was created by Colin Kaepernick and Ava DuVernay. The two will play the adoptive parents, Teresa and Rick Kaepernick, of activist and football player Colin in the six-episode series that will “provide an introspective look at Kaepernick’s adolescent years as a Black teen growing up with a white adopted family.” It was previously announced that Jaden Michael will star as Colin Kaepernick during his formative high school years.
Deadline says the series “will follow Kaepernick’s journey to become a great quarterback while defining his identity and lending meaningful insight into the acts and experiences that led him to become the Freedom Fighter he is today.”
Michael Starrbury (When They See Us) is writing the series, and Kaepernick will narrate the series as himself. I love Offerman and Parker, and think they are great additions to this project.
