Nicolas Cage Reportedly Wanted for Superman Role in DC's THE FLASH Along with More Batman Actors
Director Andy Muschietti’s The Flash is shaping up to be one hell of a crazy DC film. Ben Affleck is set to reprise his role of Batman, Michael Keaton is also coming back as Tim Burton’s version Batman, and it’s also been teased that there are going to be a lot more characters that will join Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen in the story.
FandomWire claims to have some additional intel on some of the other characters that we can expect to see in the film. According to them, the studio and producers are trying to get Christian Bale, Val Kilmer, and George Clooney to play their versions of Batman as well.
Apparently, Chris O’Donnell from Batman and Robin and Batman Forever is also being approached to reprise his role as Robin. Then they sayThe Flash TV show star Grant Gustin is also expected to appear as his version of Barry Allen.
The biggest and most exciting claim they make, though, is that Nicolas Cage might be being lined up to play the version of Superman that director Tim Burton was planning for him in the unmade movie Superman Lives. If that turns out to be true and actually happens, that would be incredible! Fans have always been curious about what it might be like to actually see Cage play Superman.
With how this film is being set up, anything is possible. The Flash is going to smash open the DC multiverse and Muschietti previously teased, "All that you've seen exists." The Flash will see Barry Allen "breaking the bonds of physics to crash into various parallel dimensions, where he’ll encounter slightly different versions of DC’s classic heroes."
The director of the film also explained how this new DC Multiverse is actually going to work, saying:
"This movie is a bit of a hinge in the sense that it presents a story that implies a unified universe where all the cinematic iterations that we’ve seen before are valid. It’s inclusive in the sense that it is saying all that you’ve seen exists, and everything that you will see exists, in the same unified multiverse."
So, as I previously said, anything is possible! When it comes to the story that the film will tell, the report says the movie “will follow the comics’ Flashpoint plotline, with Barry going back to stop a specific event. But in doing so, Barry messes up the timeline. As Barry goes back to try and find his regular world, he stumbles into many new ones, allowing for the opportunity for various cameo appearances.”
The involvement of these different versions of DC characters is all just a rumor at the moment, and even if the studio does want these actors, it doesn’t mean they will agree to appear in the movie. It’s hard to believe that some of these actors will join, but we’ll just have to wait and see! Regardless, I’m sure this film is going to be filled with all kinds of cool surprises.
