Nicolas Cage Set to Play TIGER KING’s Joe Exotic in a New Limited Series

Nicolas Cage is set to star in and produce a new limited-series that centers around Tiger King‘s Joe Exotic, and he will be taking on the lead role.

The series is based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild” by Leif Reigstadand the story “centers around Joe Shreibvogel, an eccentric, exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park — even at the risk of losing his sanity. The series will live in the lion’s den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation.”

The Tiger King documentary was a huge hit on Netflix, and there’s no doubt that fans are going to flock to watch this series, especially with Cage taking on the role of Joe! He’s just too perfect for the role, and it’s not hard at all to imagine him as Joe Exotic.

The series is set up at Imagine Television Studios and CBS TV Studios, and it will consist of eight episodes. The series is being developed by American Vandal showrunner Dan Lagana and Paul Young, who optioned the rights to the article. It’s also being produced by Brian Grazer and Samie Kim Falvey, Scott Brown and Megan Creydt.
