Nicolas Cage Teases His Dracula Voice for the Upcoming Horror Comedy RENFIELD
Nicolas Cage is gearing up to play the most recognizable vampire in history in the upcoming horror comedy, Renfield. Count Dracula has been portrayed by many actors over the years, but Cage will, of course, be bringing his own spin to the character. During an interview to promote his western drama, Butcher’s Crossing, Cage was asked by Variety about the route he is taking to craft his character, and he explained:
“[It’s] kind of an amalgamation of a sort mid-Atlantic August Coppola accent combined with some Christopher Lee, with some Anne Bancroft thrown in for good measure.”
He then went on to preview the voice a bit, which you can check out in the video below, before adding:
“Doesn’t he look like the kind of boy that has to fight them off? Yes, he does.”
Directed by Chris McKay, Renfield sees Cage play Dracula, with Nicholas Hoult as the title character, Renfield, Dracula’s henchman. They are joined in the cast by Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz and Brandon Scott Jones. Check out the debut of Cage’s Dracula voice below, and watch Renfield when it hits theaters on April 14, 2023.
