Nicolas Cage Wants to Play a "Terrifying" Version of the Batman Villain Egghead Opposite Robert Pattinson
Nicolas Cage seems very passionate about playing the classic Batman villain Egghead opposite Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight in The Batman universe created by Matt Reeves. In fact, the actor has a concept for the character that would be “absolutely terrifying.”
When asked by Fox 7 if there was any role that he would like to take on that he has not played, Cage responded with the following:
“I like… oh, here’s something, I’ve been thinking about this, because we have this new, Robert Pattinson as the Batman, which I haven’t seen it yet, but I think he would be terrific, the villain that Vincent Price played on the ’60s show, Egghead. I think I want to have a go at Egghead. I think I could make him absolutely terrifying. And I have a concept for Egghead. So let them know over at Warner Bros. I’m down for Egghead.”
Egghead was originally played by Vincent Price in the original ‘60s series. He’s described as “a super smart villain who’s brain is too big for his head. He has a soft spot in his cold heart for anything that has the word egg in it.”
In the series, Egghead pulled off a heist where he stole the Gotham City constitution and found a clause that enabled him to take control of the city, and even gave himself powers to expel the dynamic duo from Gotham City.
I wonder if Cage will ever get to pitch his vision for Egghead to director Matt Reeves. It seems like such a silly character that wouldn’t really fit into this new Gotham City universe, but I would love to see what Cage has come up with for the character! I have no doubt that he could make Egghead terrifying.
