Nicolas Cage Will Finally Get to Play Superman in DC's TEEN TITANS GO! Movie
Ever since fans learned that Nicholas Cage was going to play Superman in Tim Burton's Superman Lives movie, which never happened, we can't help but wonder what that would have been like. It would have certainly been interesting to see Cage take on the role of the Man of Steel.
But now, it seems like the time has come for Nicolas Cage to bring Superman to the big screen! Warner Bros. Animation has announced that the actor will provide the voice of Superman in the upcoming movie, Teen Titans GO! To the Movies. This is the closest thing that we'll get to seeing Cage in the role of Superman, and I can't help but think there will be a few Superman Lives jokes thrown into the film.
During an interview with USA Today, executive producer Sam Register talked about what they were looking for when casting the role of Superman, saying:
"Every superhero in the DC Universe has an impact on the fans, so we felt a great responsibility to find a voice for each character that would not only suit the role, but the playful tone of the Titans, and we’re thrilled with our cameo cast."
I'm sure Cage is going to be great in the role and he'll bring some fun humor to it. It was also reported that rapper Lil Yachty and singer Halsey are joining the cast as Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. The movie will feature some musical numbers, so this type of casting makes sense.
This movie actually could end up being pretty entertaining and something that fans of all ages might enjoy.
When the Teen Titans go to the big screen, they go big! Teen Titans GO! to the Movies finds our egocentric, wildly satirical Super Heroes in their first feature film extravaganza—a fresh, gleefully clever, kid-appropriately crass and tongue-in-cheek play on the superhero genre, complete with musical numbers. It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies—everyone but the Teen Titans, that is! But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!
The animated film will also feature the voice cast of the series, including Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven, and Hynden Walch as Starfire. Will Arnett (The LEGO Batman Movie) and Kristen Bell (Frozen) will also be in the movie.
Teen Titans GO! to the Movies was directed by Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail, from a script written by Michael Jelenic and Horvath. It's set to hit theaters on July 27th.
