Nicolas Cage's SPIDER-NOIR Series Is Described as "Insane" and "Unlike Anything Anyone's Ever Seen on TV"
I’m really curious about Nicolas Cage’s upcoming live-action Spider-Noir series. This whole thing feels like a very different and wild project, and now Fargo and New Girl star Lamorne Morris is saying that it’s going to be insane.
Morris is set to play Robbie Robertson in the series and during a recent interview with CB, he teased what we can expect from it, saying: "Well, I can't say too much. I've been sworn to secrecy.
“However, I will say it will be an experience unlike anything anyone's ever seen on television. What they're doing is insane. It really is insane, and I'm just grateful to have the opportunity to bring this version of Robbie Robertson to life.
“Folks who know me, you can assume that there'll be a level of Lamorne in there, which is why they gave me the job. Like I said, I can't tease too much, but I think fans will be overjoyed with what they see."
The actor previously talked about his excitement of joining the project, saying: “To play a character in a world that is not necessarily real, opposite actors who are veteran OGs that can teach you a thing or two, that you could be on set learning while performing.
“When you grow up on comics and even animation, you want to be a part of that world, and this combines those worlds. It's the comic, it's live-action, it's Nick Cage, Brendan Gleeson. So, being a part of that group is a bucket list thing for sure."
When the series was first announced, we learned that it will follow an "aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”
It was also reported that Spider-Noir will not be Peter Parker, but instead, Ben Reilly. "Amazon Prime is set to bring a fresh twist to the Spider-Man saga with their upcoming show. Breaking from tradition, this series will feature Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, rather than the iconic Peter Parker."
A new synopsis was later shared revealing that Spider-Noir will find himself facing off with Silvio Manfredi, aka Silvermane, and Yuri Watanabe, aka Wraith.
The summary reads: "We follow Ben Reilly, a PI, as he stumbles down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933 New York City, while also establishing his past as a superhero.
“Reilly investigates the death of Edward Addison, which leads him to discover that the Mayor is up to something nefarious that involves crime boss Silvermane and femme fatale Yuri Watanabe."
Spider-Noir is being developed by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who will also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. They developed the series with the Into the Spider-Verse team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, all of whom will also executive produce.
Harry Bradbeer will executive produce and direct the first two episodes.
