Nicole Kidman Goes a Little Crazy in This First Trailer For DESTROYER

Nicole Kidman takes on the role of a police officer who is haunted by her past in the new film Destroyer and she goes a little nuts. As you’ll see, she completely transformed herself for this role and it looks like she gives one hell of a performance.

The trailer gives off a very dark and unsettling vibe and the film is described as "a contemporary and gritty noir in a verité Los Angeles". It’s safe to say that this isn’t going to be an inspiring feel-good movie. Here’s the synopsis:

Destroyer follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.

The film comes from director Karyn Kusama, who previously directed The Invitation, she previously talked about the film and described it as “a character study in disguise as a cop thriller,” and also explained:

"We’ve all loved bank robbery stories as a place to start, because they almost never go well… There’s a kind of particular American madness to thinking you’ll be the one who gets away clean. We were really focusing on characters who weren’t criminal masterminds, but fringe dwellers of American society. Yet they still hold out the hope that they’d beat the system."

Destroyer also stars Tatiana Maslany, Sebastian Stan, and Bradley Whitford, and will hit theaters on December 25, 2018. Watch the trailer below and tell us what you think.
