Nicole Kidman Joins Osgood Perkins’ Horror-Thriller THE YOUNG PEOPLE

Nicole Kidman is stepping back into the world of psychological horror with Osgood Perkins’ new film The Young People.

The project already has a strong cast lineup that includes Lola Tung (The Summer I Turned Pretty) and Nico Parker (The Last of Us), with Brendan Hines, Cush Jumbo, Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville, Lexi Minetree, Lily Collias, and Tatiana Maslany rounding out the ensemble.

Production is currently underway in Vancouver. While story details are being kept quiet, it’s been reported that the film follows two school friends whose relationship takes a dark turn when one of them begins to show increasingly disturbing behavior.

The Young People marks the first film under the new first-look deal between Neon, Perkins, and his production company Phobos.

The movie is co-financed by Neon and Lyrical Media, with Perkins, his producing partner Chris Ferguson, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones on board as producers.

This collaboration continues a powerful streak between Neon and Perkins following their success with Longlegs, which became the year’s highest-grossing independent film, earning $75 million domestically.

The duo also teamed up for The Monkey, which gave Neon its second-biggest box office opening ever. Their next project, Keeper, hits theaters on November 14.

Kidman, a five-time Oscar nominee who recently took home the Best Actress award at the 2024 Venice Film Festival for Babygirl, is no stranger to genre storytelling.

Fans still remember her chilling performance in The Others, one of the most memorable psychological horror films of the early 2000s. She’s also currently in post-production on the Amazon crime series Scarpetta.

With Perkins’ growing reputation for crafting unnerving and atmospheric horror, and Kidman’s proven ability to bring emotional depth to dark material, The Young People sounds like a perfect match for fans of elevated horror and psychological thrillers.
