Nicole Kidman Will Continue To Be AMC Theatres' Spokesperson as She Renews Her Deal
It’s so funny going to AMC Theatres and seeing that Nicole Kidman ad play before every movie. It’s been playing for so long that the audience has memorized it. When it starts to play, the theater busts up in laughter and quotes her dialogue as it plays out.
AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron has now confirmed that Nicole Kidman has renewed her deal with AMC, and will continue to be the spokesperson for the movie chain. He recently shared:
"As Nicole Kidman reminds us in AMC's now iconic and revered advertising campaign, 'Given that Hollywood has great stories to tell. It's clear that movie fans are ever so eager to enjoy those dazzling images on AMCs huge silver screens.' And speaking of Nicole, our ad campaign was so effective that we signed her to be our spokesperson for another full year."
So, we’ll be seeing that ad in AMC Theatres for a whole other year. Apparently, Kidman was unaware that her initial ad developed a cult following, and when it was brought up in an interview with The Playlist, and she was told that the line "Somehow heartbreak feels good in a place like this," is now printed it on T-shirts, she responded with, "Are you kidding?"
When she was assured this was real, she said in disbelief: "What? No.” They replied with, "Yes," and her response again was "What?”. She had a hard time wrapping this whole thing around her head, but then added:
"But it's a great line, right? It's so true. How true is it too? ... I mean, talk about not feeling alone, sitting in a cinema with a broken heart, and then watching something that breaks your heart again, and you go, 'I'm not alone.' Please. This must not go away. We have to have cinema."
With how popular this thing has become, it makes sense that Kidman would want to continue to have fun with it.
