Crazy Nightmarish Trailer for the Freaky Horror Thriller HATCHING
IFC Midnight has released the first trailer for a freaky new horror thriller titled Hatching. This is a Finnish film, and it centers on a 12-year-old girl who finds a strange egg in the forest and takes it home to take care of it. What comes out of that egg is a nightmare that is going to put this girl’s family through a hellish experience.
Here’s the synopsis:
In Hatching, 12-year-old gymnast, Tinja is desperate to please her image-obsessed mother, whose popular blog ‘Lovely Everyday Life’ presents their family’s idyllic existence as manicured suburban perfection. One day, after finding a wounded bird in the woods, Tinja brings its strange egg home, nestles it in her bed, and nurtures it until it hatches. The creature that emerges becomes her best friend and living nightmare, plunging Tinja beneath the impeccable veneer into a twisted reality her mother refuses to see.
This looks like the kind of good, demented horror film that I’d enjoy. It’s explained that "Hatching is a fascinating portrait of the nature of maternal instinct, as Tinja battles to come to terms with the genuine emotional bond with her grotesque and bloodthirsty new found family while contending with the fraying connection to her own demanding mother."
The film comes from director Hanna Bergholm, who is making her feature directorial debut, and it stars Siiri Solalinna, Sophia Heikkilä, Saija Lentonen, and Jani Volanen.
The movie is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and it will be released in select theater and on VOD starting April 29th, 2022.
