Nintendo of Canada's General Manager Apologizes for POKEMON SCARLET and POKEMON VIOLET Problems and Promises Improvements
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are very controversial to this day. The games launched in November 2022 and were plagued with performance issues and glitches. Despite all that, the games sold over 10 million units globally in as little as three days serving as the franchise’s biggest launch weekend ever!
I remember about a week after launch, Nintendo took to social media to acknowledge that there are problems with the game and a patch was sent out that helped with some of the woes. However, it sounds like more fixes might be in store.
In a recent interview with Financial Post, Susan Pennefather, general manager of Nintendo of Canada, apologized for the mess that was Scarlet and Violet and said that improvements are coming. When asked what Nintendo learned about the awful launch, Pennefather said:
You know, we absolutely apologize. Because it is so important to give players a positive experience with our games, and when this doesn’t happen we do take it very much to heart. What I can say is the feedback from players has absolutely been taken very seriously. And we are working on improvements to these games.
I hope we get those fixes soon. I gave the game a 6 out of 10 in my review and I stand by that. However, I have since finished the game’s story and the Pokedex and it’s one of the most fun Pokémon games I’ve played in recent years. If you can get past the many flaws, there’s a really fun game in there. What do you think about how Nintendo has actually spoken up about Scarlet and Violet? When do you think we can expect these improvements?
