Nintendo Shows Off New METROID Game and BREATH OF THE WILD 2 Details at E3
Nintendo just showed off their E3 presentation and I’ve got the highlights for you below. The company promised approximately 40 minutes with a focus on software releasing this year. How did they do? What are you most hyped for? Let us know in the comments.
We start off with Nintendo thanking players for 5 great years. We then cut to a trailer for Kazuya from Tekken joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This is not a character I ever expected to see in the game and I don’t think I’ve heard anyone else guess him either. The trailer is brutal though with Kazuya throwing characters off a ledge into lava and then we see him transform into his devil form. The best part is when he tries to drop Kirby off the cliff. Sakurai then talks to us a little about Kazuya’s moves with more details coming June 28.
Next, we have a trailer for Life is Strange Remastered Collection and Life is Strange: True Colors announcing the games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. True Colors will be available on September 10 with Remastered Collection launching later this year.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy got a shoutout next. Then, Worms Rumble with an exclusive skin being available for 2 weeks after the game launches on June 23. Astria Ascending is a new RPG launching September 30. Two Point Campus was next on the list.
To celebrate 20 years of Super Monkey Ball, they showed off a retrospective video and then showed off Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania launching October 5. This was followed by Mario Party Superstars which features boards from the N64 and a collection of 100 mini-games from across the series. Online play will be supported on all game modes and button controls will be available for all games. This launches October 29.
We then got a small tidbit for Metroid Prime 4 saying it’s being worked on before being shown a new Metroid game. Called Metroid 5 initially, the suit Samus has is sick! I’m already sold! It looks like there’s a new enemy that looks awesome as well. It’s a 2D game with a style similar to Other M. It’s actually called Metroid Dread and I’m 100% sold on this. This looks so good! I cannot wait to play this game on October 8! There will be new amiibo for Samus and E.M.M.I. released as well.
We then saw Just Dance 2022 is coming to the Switch and got a preview of some of the songs launching in November. Cruis’n Blast will be exclusive to the Switch this fall. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be launching on the Switch allowing fans to relive iconic points of the anime. Plus, it comes with A New Power Awakens Set on September 24. Mario Golf: Super Rush was next with a real quick glimpse at each of the game modes you’ll be able to enjoy and an announcement of free updates in the future like new courses and characters. The game launches on June 25.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin got some time showing off some of the stuff you’ll do in the game like gather materials and battle monsters starting July 9 with a free demo available June 25.
Wario announced a new WarioWare game is coming to the Switch. Some people are sure to be very excited for this. The game will allow for 2 players simultaneously as well. WarioWare: Get It Together! launches September 10. This was a bit of a surprise.
The next trailer is very dramatic. That’s because it’s Shin Megami Tensei V. I’ve never played the games, but I’ve heard they’re fairly dramatic. This entry looks pretty cool. You can recruit demons and even fuse them to get powerful allies. You can play the game on November 12 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
Danganronpa kicks off the next hodgepodge of trailers with Danganronpa Decadence with 4 games from the franchise launching later this year. Each game will also be available individually. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is next. You need to use your camera to investigate Mt. Hikame. The game will launch later this year. DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods – Part 1 is coming later today. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 was next and will launch June 23. Strange Brigade looks like a fun adventure game that launches later today. We then revisited Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. The game launches in 2022.
Guys! We’re getting Advance Wars back! This incredible tactical strategy game has been remade for the Switch in Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp on December 3.
The final announcement starts by showing off the upcoming DLC for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Link’s got a new weapon that’s like Guardian Nunchuks or something, you can pilot a Guardian, Zelda’s riding a motorcycle. It looks fun. The DLC is available on June 18. Then, we saw Skyward Sword HD which launches on July 16. They’re launching a Game & Watch that has 3 The Legend of Zelda games including the first 2 games and the Game Boy version of Link’s Awakening. There’s also the classic game Vermin with a Link skin. There’s even a playable clock and timer available. This will be available on November 12. It was also announced that no other campaigns or products for the Switch planned.
We closed out the Nintendo Direct with new footage for Breath of the Wild 2! Are we returning to Skyloft? The game is set to launch in 2022! While not confirmed to be Skyloft, it was said that we’ll visit the skies above Hyrule. This definitely helps Skyward Sword HD make a bit more sense in my opinion.
