I've got some crappy news for all of you Rick and Morty fans. According to writer Ryan Ridley, as of ring now no one is working on the fourth season of the animated series and it doesn't look like it's going to be released until late 2019! That's a depressing thought, but it's a reality and Ridley seems pretty annoyed that everyone working on the series is dropping the ball. When talking to The Detroit Cast, he said:
"As far as I know, no one's working on the show, and I'm certainly not. So I don't know what's going on, I haven't heard anything. They really take their time. I never understood why everybody -- all parties, Dan, Justin and Adult Swim -- didn't get their shit together and make the show fast. I just don't get it. It doesn't make any sense to me. I'm sure they all have their reasons. . . . I highly doubt there won't be [a Season 4]. I'm just shocked that it's taking [so long]. We got done writing Season 3 in November of last year, and here we are eleven months later. And then I know how long the show takes to write, let alone animate, so I would be surprised if there was a fourth season on the air any sooner than 2019, than late 2019.
I wonder why the main team behind the series take so long. Maybe they have other projects they are developing? It certainly can't be laziness... right!? It's just crazy that there's been no movement made on it yet almost a year after completing Season 3.
Regardless, it looks like fans are to have to wait a torturous amount of time... again before we see any new episodes. If you haven't watched Rick and Morty yet, then you've got plenty of time to blaze through the first three seasons and enjoy the awesome madness!
