No, Rian Johnson's STAR WARS Trilogy Has Not Been Canceled it's Still in Development

I've been seeing rumors online regarding the original Star Wars trilogy that director Rian Johnson was hired to develop. A lot of those rumors are saying that his trilogy has been canceled by Lucasfilm and that the project is in trouble. Those rumors seem to be spreading like wildfire.

Well, a fan recently reached out to Johnson on Twitter and asked if he was still working on the project and the filmmaker responded with a "yup" and a fist bump:

So... no. As much a some Star Wars fans would like to see Johnson's Star Wars trilogy be canceled, that's not the case. He's still pressing forward and putting together a new story that will be completely separate from the Skywalker saga.

Not much is known about his new trilogy, but we do know that it will take place in a different corner of the Star Wars universe and feature a new set of characters. It's a completely original Star Wars story and I think that's pretty damn exciting. I can't wait to see what Johnson ends up coming up with!
