Norman Reedus Shares Emotional Farewell to THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON After Final Season Wrap - “You’re Gonna Feel It”

After spending 16 years fighting walkers across The Walking Dead universe, Norman Reedus is preparing to leave one of television’s most enduring characters behind.

The actor recently shared an emotional message with fans after wrapping production on the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, offering a glimpse into what the experience meant to him and teasing what sounds like a powerful conclusion to Daryl’s story.

Reedus took to social media after returning from Mongolia and reflected on sorting through photos from the show's final episode. The process clearly brought back a flood of memories from a production that meant a lot to everyone involved.

“Finally going through these photos to check off from the last episode now that I’m back from Mongolia it was really hard to kill any of them,” Reedus wrote.

“I didn’t post any of those here, but I can’t wait for people to see this show the crew best I’ve ever worked with the feeling of accomplishment when it was over was just amazing.”

That appreciation extended to the entire team that helped bring the final season to life. Reedus praised the effort that went into the series and hinted that audiences are going to notice the difference when the episodes finally air.

“Such hard work and so much [heart] put into this I think you’re gonna feel it. It was a special season. I can’t wait for you to see it. It hits just way different this time.”

Daryl Dixon has become one of the franchise’s most beloved characters since The Walking Dead first premiered in 2010. What started as a supporting role eventually evolved into one of the defining faces of the entire franchise, surviving all eleven seasons of the flagship series and continuing his journey through multiple spin-offs.

The final chapter of Daryl Dixon has already generated excitement among fans. During New York Comic Con last October, Melissa McBride, who returned as Carol Peletier in the series, expressed confidence in what the creative team had accomplished, saying Season 4 is “going to be even better” than Season 3. Reedus was equally enthusiastic at the time, saying they’re “killing it” with the final season.

As the fifth spin-off in The Walking Dead franchise, Daryl Dixon followed Daryl's unexpected journey across France after washing ashore in the country where the zombie outbreak originated. The series eventually reunited him with Carol as the pair searched for a way back home and the people they love.

AMC officially renewed the show for a fourth and final season last July, with production taking place on location in Spain.

While fans still have one more season to look forward to, Reedus’ farewell message feels like the beginning of the end for a character who has been a fixture of the zombie genre for more than a decade and a half.

If his comments are any indication, the creative team is aiming to send Daryl Dixon off with a story that lands on a much more personal level.

Now fans will just have to wait and see exactly why, as Reedus put it, “It hits just way different this time.”
