Norman Reedus Talks About the DARYL AND CAROL Spin-Off Series Teasing It "Won't Look Anything Like" THE WALKING DEAD
The Walking Dead is coming to an end after this final upcoming 11th season at AMC. But we aren’t saying goodbye to these characters forever, as the network has announced several projects including the Rick Grimes film(s), and the Daryl and Carol spinoff series.
Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) are the only remaining characters from the very beginning of the series, and they are fan-favorites. So we are pretty excited to see how their story plays out, and to see what kind of show the spin-off will end up being. Reedus recently spoke about the new show, teasing its tone in an interview with IMDb (via CB):
"I can't tell you a whole lot about the spin-off. I can tell you that it won't look anything like The Walking Dead. It won't look like an episode of Walking Dead with just Daryl and Carol. It'll be completely different."
The stripped-down spin-off with a lighter tone "will be of a great deal about discovery," TWD writer and producer Scott Gimple said in a statement read aloud on TWD Universe Preview Special 2020, which aired just weeks after AMC announced the end of the flagship series, and the greenlit Daryl & Carol. "A new world, a new tone, a new frontier of story and purpose — all while carrying the lessons learned from the people who have made up their apocalypse family, their hard-won victories, and painful losses."
It will be cool to see what they come up with, especially if they are saying it will be so different from what we’ve seen so far from the characters in the world of The Walking Dead. I’m excited to see what’s to come.
