NOW YOU SEE ME 3 Gets an Official Title; NOW YOU SEE ME 4 in the Works With Ruben Fleischer
The Now You See Me franchise has picked up steam again and is moving forward with the planned third film, as well as a newly announced Now You See Me 4.
The third film now has an official title, which is Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. It’s a clever title that was bound to happen with all these sequels.
The announcement was made from the CinemaCon stage by Adam Fogelson, chair, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. The third film, helmed by Ruben Fleischer, comes out on November 14th, and he is returning to direct the fourth film.
The Now You See Me franchise has taken in $687 million worldwide. The first two films starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman, among others, with Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt joining as a new generation of illusionists and Rosamund Pike also starring in the franchise’s third installment, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.
Bobby Cohen, who originally developed and has produced all the films in the series, will return to produce the new installment alongside Alex Kurtzman of Secret Hideout. Meredith Wieck will oversee the project for Lionsgate.
Fogelson said, “Ruben has delivered all of the twists and turns and sleight-of-hand that audiences expect from this franchise while upping the stakes and scale in every way. We can’t wait for audiences to discover what he’s done with the third film and thrilled he’ll be making even more magic with us.”
Fleischer added, “Directing Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was as much fun as making any movie in my career. It combines two of my favorite things—heist movies and magic—and working with this incredible cast was truly magical. Of course I want to keep it going.”
Fleischer reteams with Eisenberg and Harrelson in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, who were also the stars of the director’s debut film Zombieland, which was a hit at the box office and remains a cult classic.
“It’s very good to be back,” says Eisenberg, kicking off an exclusive first look. “In the world of magic, everything that disappears, reappears” as the two generations of magicians join forces to take down corrupt money launderers who sell diamonds to warlords with disguises, a bit of fighting, sleight of hand in tony digs and “a trick that is bigger and better than anything you have very seen.” Harrelson may have lost his touch, as, says Greenblatt, “It’s eight magicians against a worldwide criminal network.”
I loved the first two movies in this franchise, and I am looking forward to the next two! Will you be watching Now You See Me: Now You Don’t in theatres?
