NSFW Trailer For Director Paul Verhoeven New Film BENEDETTA
Paul Verhoeven, the director of RoboCop, Total Recall, Basic Instinct, and Showgirls, hasn’t made a movie since the 2016 film Elle. Well, he’s back with a film titled Benedetta and the first trailer has been released and it’s definitely NSFW.
The film tells the story of a nun who suffers from disturbing religious and erotic visions. She also ends up having a romantic affair with a fellow nun who is assigned to help her through the visions she’s having. Here’s the synopsis:
In the late 15th century, with plague ravaging the land, Benedetta Carlini joins the convent in Pescia, Tuscany, as a novice. Capable from an early age of performing miracles, Benedetta’s impact on life in the community is immediate and momentous.
The film is based on the book by Judith C. Brown. The screenwriter of the film Gerard Soeteman has distanced himself from the project because he “is very unhappy with the director's emphasis on the sexual aspect of the true life story of a lesbian nun in the Renaissance.” This trailer doesn’t hold back on showing that aspect of the film off.
The movie stars Virginie Efira, Charlotte Rampling, Daphné Patakia, and Lambert Wilson, and it will premiere at Cannes Film Festival in competition. So, for those of you that have been wondering what Paul Verhoeven has been up to, here you go…
