NXIVM Sex Cult Movie Gets Picked Up at Lifetime

Have you listened to season one of the podcast Uncover: Escaping NXIVM? It’s so freaking insane. It’s the story of a woman who joins this group (cult), that actually sounds a lot like Scientology, where you have to pay obscene amounts of money to take courses that are supposed to better your life. Except it doesn’t just end there.

The woman in the story recounts how she got so high up in the group that she had these women that were assigned to her that she had to treat like servants, and the whole thing came to a head when the group went as far as to actually brand her and some other women under the guise of “women empowerment,” while grooming its female members to be sexually involved with its leader.

The actress Allison Mack (Smallville) was involved in the upper ranks of the cult, and its leader, Keith Raniere, has just been convicted of seven counts of racketeering and sex trafficking. And now we get to see the whole story play out in the form of a Lifetime movie. Deadline reports, The NXIVM Cult: A Mother’s Nightmare (working title) centers on the true story of Catherine Oxenberg and her fight to save her daughter India from the dangerous sex cult. It’s set to debut this fall.”

I am so down for this. It’s one of these stories that if I didn’t know it was true, I would say it was way over the top and cheesy, even for a Lifetime movie. But it’s true! Peter Facinelli (The Twilight saga, Nurse Jackie) will play Raniere, which is a generous choice.

I will definitely be tuning in. How about you? Are you interested?
