We’ve got some new rumored details to share with you regarding Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series. This information involves Darth Vader, who is confirmed to appear in the series, and who he might be sending to hunt down Kenobi.

A new report from Making Star Wars is saying that Vader is sending Inquisitors out to look for Kenobi, and he will cross lightsabers with at least one of them. As you know, Inquisitors use the dark side of the Force, and they have been trained to hunt down the Jedi who escaped Order 66. The report says:

“In the series, Obi-Wan will fight at least one inquisitor. Lightsabers will clash and we will see Kenobi up against The Inquisitorius in at least an episode of the limited series. Will this vein run throughout many episodes or just occur in a single story? That I do not know for certain at this time and it would be conjecture on my part to state any further. But take it from me, empirically, the Imperial Inquisition is coming for old(ish) Ben.”

The report doesn’t know if this will be a familiar Inquisitor from Star Wars Rebels, or if it will be a new one that we haven’t seen before. From what I understand there are at least 12 of them in the Star Wars universe during this time. The Grand Inquisitor, Fifth Brother, Seventh Sister, and Eighth Brother appeared in Star Wars Rebels.

This is just a rumor for now, but it’s not hard to think that it will turn out to be true. I mean, of course, Vader would be sending Inquisitors out to find Kenobi! It just makes sense.

It's also reported that while the majority of the series has taken place on Tatooine, they “can almost confirm he goes off-world in it too.”

The story begins 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

The series stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Joel EdgertonBonnie PiesseMoses IngramKumail NanjianiIndira VarmaRupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr.Sung KangSimone Kessell, and Benny Safdie

Deborah Chow (Better Call Saul, American Gods, The Mandalorian) will direct the series as well as serve as showrunner, with Hossein Amini (Drive, McMafia) and Joby Harold (John Wick 3, Awake, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) writing.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Chow, McGregor, and Harold. The series will be shot using the same stagecraft technology that the filmmakers on The Mandalorian have utilized.
